The manual described it as: "This special Pully guard has been designed for use on any Shopsmith single purpose tool mounted on a stand.

It is easily mounted and quickly removed to permit interchangeability with different tools.

It safely covers the tool pully and is quickly removed for belt changes on step pulleys."
